I am crossing my fingers that April showers stop bringing freezing rain soon, because I am more than ready for some real spring weather in Montreal. Whether my family feels like staying indoors or heading outside, April 2026 has plenty of kid-friendly activities, performances, maple treats, and seasonal fun to make the month feel a little brighter.
Easter Egg Hunt – April 3-6 and 11-12
I love a farm outing at Easter, and this one at Quinn Farm sounds like a sweet way to celebrate. The egg hunt includes 10 different stations where kids receive chocolate through a chute, which is perfect for catching in their baskets. The Easter Bunny will be there, the farm animals will be on site, and each guest also gets a handmade chocolate lollipop. Reservations are required, with admission at $11 per child and $5 for adults.
Citizen Spring – April 4-26
The Montreal Botanical Garden is spending the month celebrating environmental citizenship with weekend activities at the Frederick Back Tree Pavilion. I like that each weekend has its own theme, including “consuming differently” and ” the yummy side of the transition”, with activities such as edible flower lessons, beeswax food wrap workshops, origami crafts, foraging, and more. Entry is free.
Montreal Clown Festival – April 10-18
Now in its 9th edition, the Montreal Clown Festival is not joking around. I would keep an eye on the mix of workshops and shows, since many are designed for both younger and older audiences. One family-friendly option is Les p’tites polisses en servisse, taking place on April 11 at 3pm at Maison de la Culture Claude-Léveillée. It is a non-verbal, language-free show for all ages.
Les Sucres Jean Talon Market – April 11
Maple season is here, and I cannot think of a better excuse to visit the market. This one-day event at Jean Talon Market will feature maple taffy on snow, maple cocktails and mocktails, and a sugar shack-style menu. Kids can enjoy inflatables, giant games, traditional dance, and music performances. The event runs from 10am to 5pm, and entry is free.
Snow White – April 16-26
Geordie Theatre is bringing Snow White to the Centaur Theatre, and this version sounds like a fun twist on the classic story. Just two actors will play every role, from the 7 dwarves to the huntsman, in a lively production for kids ages 6 and up. I especially appreciate that this is not the typical Snow White ending where she simply waits around to be rescued. Tickets range from $19 to $37.
Harlem Globetrotters – April 17-18
The Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating an incredible 100 years, and their special tour is stopping in Montreal for two days. The shows take place at the Bell Centre, with the first on April 17 at 7pm and the second on April 18 at 2pm. Tickets start at $42.25.
Raffi – April 18-19
I would get ready for Baby Beluga and Banana Phone, because Raffi is coming to Montreal’s Place des Arts for two shows. Both performances are at 2pm, and tickets in the lower price bracket, $65, are still available.
Pond Skimming Events – Throughout the Month
As ski season winds down, it is time for costumes, spring snow, and people gliding down a hill straight toward a pond. I may prefer watching other skiers and boarders take the plunge, but either way, these pond skimming events near Montreal are a fun way to say goodbye to winter.
April 4 – Mont Sutton
April 11 – Stowe Mountain
April 18 – Jay Peak
April 18 – Mont St Sauveur
