I absolutely understand the urge to stay up far too late watching all eight episodes of The Five-Star Weekend as soon as it landed on Peacock. I did the same, and like plenty of other viewers, I immediately wanted to talk about it with everyone in my group chat. The Jennifer Garner-led adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling beach read gave me exactly the kind of summer drama I wanted: midlife messiness, gorgeous Nantucket scenery, enviable homes, beautiful food, a Catch and Release reunion, and enough emotional tension to keep me fully invested.
So, naturally, I have one big question now: will The Five-Star Weekend get a Season 2?
Here is what I know so far about the possibility of another season, what is working in the show’s favor, and what might make a renewal a little more complicated.
Has The Five-Star Weekend Been Renewed?
Peacock has not officially renewed The Five-Star Weekend yet. Since the series has only just been released, I think it makes sense to keep expectations realistic for now. That said, I am not giving up hope, because there are a few encouraging signs worth paying attention to.
The biggest reason I am keeping my expectations in check is that the show was created as a limited series. Its eight episodes adapt all of Hilderbrand’s 2023 standalone novel, which means there is not a direct sequel already waiting to be turned into Season 2. The finale also gives Hollis a fairly complete emotional arc, as she learns the truth about Matthew, begins to make peace with it, and starts moving carefully toward whatever might come next.
Still, I have watched enough television to know that “limited series” does not always mean “one and done.” Shows like The Four Seasons, Big Little Lies, and Nine Perfect Strangers all began as self-contained stories before audience interest helped open the door for more.
The most hopeful detail, at least to me, is that Hilderbrand herself seems interested in seeing the story continue. She has been active on Threads, encouraging fans in the comments and even teasing, “If everyone keeps loving on it, we might get a season two!”
That makes me think the best thing fans can do is keep watching, rewatching, and talking about The Five-Star Weekend. If the audience shows up loudly enough, Peacock may have a reason to take another look.
What Could The Five-Star Weekend Season 2 Be About?
There is no official Season 2 logline right now, but I do think the series left enough emotional threads open to keep going. In an interview with TV Insider, showrunner Bekah Brunstetter suggested that she already has ideas “locked in” for a possible second season. She also hinted that the women could remain friends and begin building new friendships within the group, which feels like a natural next step.

I am also intrigued by some of the plot ideas the cast has floated, including a getaway to Greece with Gigi, played by Gemma Chan, piloting the flight. Book readers may recognize part of that idea, since Hilderbrand’s novel ends with the women heading off on an Italian vacation and later realizing that Gigi is the voice on the flight intercom. To me, that feels like exactly the kind of loose thread a second season could pull on.
Personally, I would love to check back in with Tatum, played by Chloë Sevigny, especially when it comes to her health. I would also be very happy to see more of her marriage to Kyle, played by David Denman, because there is still plenty there for the show to explore.
Who Would Return For Season 2?
If the main cast is available and willing, I would expect the core ensemble to return. That would likely include Jennifer Garner as Hollis, Regina Hall as Dru-Ann, Sevigny as Tatum, D’Arcy Carden as Brooke, Chan as Gigi, Timothy Olyphant as Jack, and Denman as Kyle. I would also expect Harlow Jane to return as Hollis’ daughter Caroline and West Duchovny as Tatum’s daughter Aubrey. Fun fact: Jane is the daughter of actors Patricia Arquette and Thomas Jane, while Duchovny’s parents are actors David Duchovny and Téa Leoni.

There are a few wild card returns I would be excited to see, too. Judy Greer could come back as Hollis’ frenemy Electra, Josh Hamilton could appear again as Hollis’ late husband Matthew, Roberta Colindrez could return as Brooke’s new girlfriend, Vella Lovell could reprise her role as Hollis’ agent, and Henry Eikenberry could come back as Aubrey’s handsome but not exactly brilliant “baby daddy” Dylan.
Honestly, I have a hard time picturing the show without all of them. The ensemble is a huge part of what makes the series so easy to sink into.
My Bottom Line
Right now, The Five-Star Weekend Season 2 is not guaranteed. But I do think there is reason to feel hopeful. The show is earning solid early reviews, including an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the cast seems open to more, and the creative team already has ideas in mind.
For now, I think the assignment is simple: keep showing up for The Five-Star Weekend. If enough honorary Hollibabes keep watching and talking about it, Peacock may decide that one weekend in Nantucket simply was not enough.
